People sometimes describe India as undergoing an “Economic Miracle” in the past twenty years after decades of indolent economic growth following independence. A number of sectors of the economy have taken off with high rates of growth and increasing income.
Our team of researchers visited the remote village of Baghpat and Rehana, wherein we researched on the economic, social, health and other circumstances of rural India. The picture that came in front of us does not conform to the idea of an “Economic Miracle“.
The economic condition of the village was extremely poor. Inadequate electricity for 12-18 hours. No availability of potable water. People suffered because of the contaminated water, which affected the health of the people and skin disease became a major issue in the village.
